LIGHTING . . . . . the finishing touch
the jewelry of the room.
Here are a few that I think qualify
as that very element!
They are beautiful, substantial [not spindly],
gleaming, gorgeous fixtures - like a lovely polished bracelet -
the perfect finishing touch to any room
and the perfect element to update a tired bathroom
without spending a fortune
(I should probably explain here that these are the
end result of a search for a client for the perfect bathroom lighting)
I've provided links so you can purchase them online.
First - in no particular order of preference - Canadian designer Candice Olson's Margo sconce
which I love because it has substance, a mirrored finish and a little bling.....

Next, Restoration Hardware's Campaign collection. Look at the chunkiness of the base - it has heft and it looks like a million bucks - for not a million bucks
and it looks great against a gray wall doesn't it?
[Restoration Hardware] - Campaign sconce (here) $99
[Restoration Hardware] - Campaign vanity light here $169
I love the chunky squareness of this fixture |
[Hudson Valley Lighting] - Lakeland sconce $159 here
[Hudson Valley Lighting] - Lakeland vanity light $320 here
Another squarish fixture - this one with a flared glass shade
I love the backplate on this.
[Murray Feiss] American Foursquare sconce $111 here
[Murray Feiss] American Foursquare vanity light $299 here
This one has a little more bling. It's elegant and feminine. I love the drum shade.
[Savoy House] Rosendal sconce $131 here
The vanity light has glass drum shades.
[Savoy House] Rosendal vanity light $222 here
This next fixture is one that we chose for my client. It is so beautiful in the room - this photo does not do it justice. The shades are frosted glass and it has just enough bling. It is also quite heavy and well made

[Quoizel] Hollister vanity light $220 here (sconce also available)
Murray Feiss's Canterbury fixture has substance with a vintage feel. Its a favorite of mine and
one I have used many times. It is beautiful in chrome.

Another gleaming chrome fixture from Quoizel
(picture this on a cool gray wall
or a grayed down blue one - heavenly)

[Quoizel] Quinton vanity light $135 here
The black drum shades on this pewter-look vanity light
lend both elegance and drama to a room.
I love that it has a mix of both traditional and contemporary styles
a perfect fixture to freshen up the style in your room a little

[Savoy House] Monte la Ville $284 here
Have you noticed the 'nature' trend? Twigs and birds, bark and leaves are not just for fabrics and wallpaper. I love the way nature is elevated to art in this sconce - the dramatic length of it - the drum shade
its pretty spectacular - don't you think? And while a bath may be beautified by it, I can also picture it in a great room, or a living room, or flanking a fireplace.

[Troy Lighting] Adirondack collection sconce $178 here
From the same collection, but with a much more contemporary vibe, this beautiful sconce
is a substantial 25 inches tall and 12 inches wide. I can think of so many places this would look wonderful!

Many of these fixtures are available in other finishes, but I think these look their best in the silver.
The fixture in my powder room is 10 years old and a little dated
I think its time for a change
Oh, how will I ever choose!
