YELLOW AND BLACK: A WEDDING OPEN HOUSE

MEETING THE BRIDE

With the actual wedding taking place in Arizona
it was time for the groom's friends and family
on the west coast to meet the bride and wish the couple well

so we planned a little reception for them in
sunny Southern California

which wasn't very sunny,
the weather teased us with cold and rain until the last minute

but the day before the reception
the sun rose bright, warm and cheery
a good thing
as the entire event was taking place
outdoors

the bride chose Yellow/White/Black for her colors

We turned an antique frame into a chalkboard
to hold a friendly welcome for the guests
and lead them to the back yard

where we set up long rows of tables and dressed them in black linens
with black chairs

we added tall candlesticks, towering votive candelabras and large beautiful lanterns

 and armfuls of flowers
sunflowers
mums
roses
stock

and these little globes of sunshine
this large grassy arrangement

became the centerpiece of the banquet tables
(the food was delicious, Victoria, by the way :) )

but my favorite were the lanterns
with a base of sunshine yellow flowers
and very tall tapers

the addition of the tall candelabras

set the tables aglow with light

more candlelight highlighted the dessert table
piled high with freshly baked cupcakes and favorite sweets

but the highlight was the photo wall
how adorable is this?
and what a cute couple!
 so adorable!

best wishes - Tyler and Kim!
it was so fun to decorate your celebration!

  2. The photos don't even begin to show how magical it looked... there must have been 500 tealights and votives going. So amazing. One thing that made it dramatic was the 16-foot-long banquet tables draped in black and burlap with the huge lanterns and candelabras. Completely AMAZING. People are still talking about how stunningly beautiful it was.

  5. So stunning! I love those lanterns as well. I had to do a double take on the photo wall to figure it out. Such a great idea!

  6. so fun and yes, photo frame board (whatever we call it) was well worth staple gunning and brownies at 2am...and on a side note, see how my granite clashes with my cabinetry?

  7. Shawna,
definitely the brownies made the mad hours possible! I don't want to think about how many hours it took us to staple first the burlap and then the fabric on those 8 ft tall boards! But turned out so cute! I love it.
Okay, Okay, we will paint your cabinets! haha!

  8. Victoria,
I loved the contrasts - the dramatic candlesticks and lanterns with the burlap, elegant serving pieces with polka dot ribbon - it did turn out beautiful...thank heavens it didn't rain! haha

  9. Absolutely fantastic!Wedding flowers can be the second most beautiful thing throughout the entire wedding and another thing that everyone seems to focus a lot of attention on. For those selecting wedding flowers try choosing flower colors that tie everything together.
