WALLS ARE INTERESTING THINGS
they are necessary, yet many of us have difficulty making them attractive
some stare at us blankly
others are awkward
Many of our homes are sorely lacking in architectural interest
but that doesn't mean it has to stay that way
Here are a few more ideas for that blank wall

and allows room for larger items for display

Bookshelves are both an asset and a problem
how can you showcase them to their best advantage?
Here are a couple of tips: #1 - Remove the covers
#2 Incorporate other objects
#3: Strive for balance
paper covered books on these shelves create a neutral palette

| Pregnant with Power Tools I love this combination of beadboard and cubbies for a bath or laundry room |
Sometimes the homes we live in
have little to offer us in custom details
have little to offer us in custom details
and we have to add our own charm
and our own architectural interest
Just because you have a room with 4 boring blank walls now
doesn't mean you have to live with it forever
If you have unfinished windows - add molding
If your room has tiny baseboards - replace them with larger chunkier ones
Add the board and batten, bead board or panel details to your walls
Install a little crown molding
Build a shelving unit - or have it done
and Presto
No more BORING walls
I hope this inspires you just a little today!
Best,
Claudine

Beautiful inspiration! Love the next to last photo of the desk area!
Tammy,
That's my fav too - can't wait to steal that idea for my office!
Adore the paneled, brick and bead board walls. We both used an antique bead board in an area in our home. Great looks!!
I love how beadboard lends itself to more than 'cottage' or country looks. Love how it lends itself to even more formal or contemporary areas as well.
Came across your blog while surfing the internet for basement ideas. Love your taste and the pictures you post. I need your help please. We are adding a bedroom in our finished basement. The bedroom will have a window but it opens up to under the deck so the room definitely doesn't get a lot of light. Can you recommend a paint color that would make the room feel bright and cheerful while staying on the neutral side? I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks.
LOVE it all!!! especially the greys...(i know you know that)!
