HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
I hope yours was filled with warmth and holiday cheer
and whether at home or away, I hope your day
was spent with the best of friends and family

Yesterday, the season started in earnest for me
here are a few highlights of the first home to be decorated for Christmas
Pat's formal living and dining rooms
are decorated in deep golds and reds
a perfect combination that looks amazing at Christmas time
I redecorated her home several years ago
and you can see the before and after photos here.

I gave the sconces in the living room
a festive treatment and then moved to the family room
Generally, family areas are a little more casual and relaxed.
Here in Pat's family room the decorating turns whimsical and fun
starting with the snowman collection
I added plain snowtipped garland to the mantle with lights
and picks of bright red berries
the center piece of the used brick fireplace wall is a wintry print by Thomas Kincade
and a collection of Pottery Barn candle cottages and trees
to which I added some more red berry-laden picks
and a luscious big red bow
(ribbon from Michaels)
I hope yours was filled with warmth and holiday cheer
and whether at home or away, I hope your day
was spent with the best of friends and family

Pat's 'family tree' is a fixture
each year in her living room window
![]() |
| it is full of beautiful little frames with photos of her family, children and grandchildren (including the family dog) |
I chose red ribbon, golden jingle bell garlands and small glittered pears and apples to add to the little enamel frames
(frames can be found at Aaron Bros or Michaels)
In the entry, I attached pinecone garland to the bannister
and added lights
and ribbon and big loopy bows with long streamers
(I found this great ribbon, and all the ribbon for Pat's house
at Michaels)
next, I add various pine picks (also from Michaels)
throughout the garland and especially here on the ends,
to create a custom natural 'fresh greens' look.
I love these frosty branches
finally, I add a second ribbon, a little narrower, for added dimension
the staircase is finished
now for a few finishing touches in the entry

like placing this snowman pillow on the bench
adding a trio of snowmen,
some bright ornaments at the base of the orchids,
and ribbon and pinecone picks to decorate the lampshades

Pat's beloved snowmen show up on the Christmas stockings as well

I finished with a white ceramic pitcher full of red berries
I hope you enjoyed Pat's beautiful
home and holiday decor!

Lynette's charming holiday home

The snowman pillow is adorable! And I love the big window. Perfect for showing off the tree.
ReplyDeleteI'm adopting this idea myself this year. I have all the little frame ornaments and the tree - can't wait to print out the photos for it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I have a small house and I get so tempted with the ornaments that I end up over decorating my home. This year though I plan to do it differently...
ReplyDeletePat and I have almost the same decorations! I sure wish I had some help getting mine in place! Looks great!
